John P. Norback Ph.D. is a professor in the Food Science Department of the University of Wisconsin - Madison. He has his Ph.D. in Business and Operations Research and masters and B.A. in Mathematics. His charter at the University is to solve business problems for the food industry. John has been writing software for the food industry for over 20 years. Most of his software grows out of his interaction with industry as well as his research and instructional work at the University of Wisconsin where he has been a member of the Food Science Department since 1978.

Kathleen A. Ley received her BS in Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science in 1975 from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point. During the next 18 years, she assisted businesses, governments and educational institutions in utilizing information technology while she was employed at AT&T, Wang Laboratories, The Service Bureau Company, Burroughs and Optimal Decision Systems. Kathy served in marketing, training and consulting positions. Throughout her career, she has solved her customers' strategic, tactical and operational problems with the applications of computer based tools. Since joining Dr. Norback in 1993, she has helped to build NLA into a world wide provider of software for food safety.
