sayDATA allows users to "say their data" and interact with a PC to create records. The user converses with the computer, indicating new inputs with spoken words. sayDATA includes a voice recognition training module, adapting the PC software to input from a user's unique voice.

By wearing a wireless head set, the user speaks their data and a PC generated voice confirms what was heard. The PC generated voice then asks for the next data item. This keeps hands free, eliminating possible cross contamination of food from dirty hands, clipboards, PCs, or other data gathering devices. It also eliminates the need to wash hands after each data item is recorded. This speeds data gathering, reducing cost and maintaining the integrity of the HACCP system.

sayDATA can be used for many types of input required on a food production floor or kitchen. Some of these include taking temperatures of food, confirming the condition of a received product, and noting sanitation conditions. sayDATA can be used in many applications where it is important to have the employee's hands continue their work while they roam the workplace and record data. 

The software has a list creation utility to design the voice interaction. The list utility can includes adding nonverbal items. For instance, employees may need to view a screen for digital movies on how to perform a task or instructional photos. sayDATA includes both of these capabilities, which can be used to train a food worker on a specific job function. Videos may teach employees how to wash their hands, perform a task, or check a temperature.
